Founders Circle

The sisters of the yam Writing Society’s founders circle is a collective of writers, educators, artists, and cultural workers committed to care-centered practice, creative rigor, and communal accountability. Rooted in Black feminist and womanist traditions, our team brings together lived experience, interdisciplinary expertise, and a shared belief in writing as a tool for reflection, truth-telling, and collective becoming. Each member shows up with humility, intention, and a deep respect for privacy, process, and the power of gathering. Together, we hold spaces that prioritize safety, curiosity, and growth—tending a creative ecosystem where stories are honored, voices are nurtured, and community remains at the center of the work.
